(RPL) Course
Kishugu Unmanned Aerial Services (KUAS) is an Approved Aviation Training Organization with the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
Our Remote Pilots Licence (RPL) course provide drone pilots with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to legaly, safely and effectively operate unmanned aircraft for commercial use.
What is a RPL Licence?
A Remote Pilot Licence is the first step for anyone who want to start their professional drone pilot career. A RPL is required to operate commercially as a qualified RPL Holder under Part 101 of the SACAA regulations.
RPL Requirements
The RPL Course is divided into three phases; theory including a restricted radio licence, practical training and a skills test.
Phase 1 - Theoretical Training
- Course consists of 14 modules
- Duration: 7 Days
- Includes a Restricted Radio Licence Exam

Phase 2 - Practical Training
- 5 two-hour sessions
- 2 hours of actual flight time
- Unlimited access to drone simulator training
Do I need my own drone?
- You do not not need your own drone
- We provide a registered drone to train on
Phase 3 - Skills Test
With Phases 1 & 2 completed, our Chief Instructor will conduct a “mock skills test” known as a Letter of Recommendation Flight. This ensures each candidate is proficient in practical flying manoeuvres and your theoretical knowledge is acceptable to pass the final skills test.

Passing the Final Skills Test will qualify students to complete an application for a Remote Pilot Licence (RPL). Once issued by the SACAA, we will arrange for collection or delivery of your licence.
